2026 Summer Minister
Virginia Beach Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Virginia Beach, Virginia is seeking applicants to fill the role of their senior pastor during her parental leave this summer. Applicants must have completed their first year of Seminary by the time the summer ministry begins. The Summer Minister is expected to be in Virginia Beach from June 28, 2026 through August 16, 2026.

The Summer Minister will be responsible for filling the pulpit and providing pastoral care to our members while our senior pastor, Rev. Kelsey Sherazi, is on maternity leave. The Summer Minister will spend their first week at our church with Pastor Kelsey learning the church’s schedule and laying out the plans for their time during the summer. Once Pastor Kelsey begins her parental leave, the Summer Minister will have a local minister who knows our church well to serve as a mentor for the duration of their summer ministry.

The Summer Minister will generally work full time throughout the week and can expect to have two designated days off each week. The Summer Minister is expected to be present for all seven weeks, and no vacation time is offered. Housing will be provided by Virginia Beach Christian Church (a private room and bathroom in the home of one of our congregants). The Summer Minister will receive a $3,500 stipend as compensation. The Summer Minister will need a car to fulfill the ministerial role.

Questions can be directed to Rev. Kelsey Sherazi, Senior Pastor at revkelsey@vbchristianchurch.com.
